Flooding in Texas: What Eyewitnesses Say

The hills along the Guadalupe River in central Texas are dotted with youth camps and campgrounds, trapped by the elements.

“The camp was completely destroyed. A helicopter landed and started taking people away. It was really scary,” said one of the campers, 13-year-old Eleanor Lester.

People clung to trees and climbed into attics to escape the elements. In Ingram, Erin Burgess was awakened in the middle of the night by thunder and rain. Within 20 minutes, water had poured into her home, she said.

“My son and I swam to the tree and clung to it, and my boyfriend and the dog swam away. They were lost for a while, but we found them,” the woman said.

Barry Adelman told how, due to a flood, he, his family and the residents of his three-story house, found themselves in the attic trying to escape.

“I had to look my grandson in the eye and tell him everything was going to be okay, but inside I was scared to death,” he said.

Trump and Zelensky React to Texas Flooding

US President Donald Trump has declared a state of disaster in Kerr County, Texas.

“The Trump administration continues to work closely with state and local leaders. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was on the scene yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his great state,” he wrote in Truth Social.

The President admitted that many people died, and there are also missing persons. The aftermath is being eliminated, and more than 850 people have been rescued.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed condolences to Donald Trump, the American people and all victims.

“Our condolences to the President of the United States, the American people and all residents of Texas who suffered from the terrible, deadly floods,” he wrote in X.

The head of our state hopes that the missing, in particular the children from the summer camp, will return to a safe place.

In addition, the Ukrainian leader wished strength to the rescuers and a speedy recovery to the regions.

Let us recall that on the morning of July 4 in Texas, due to heavy rains, the water on the Guadalupe River rose by 8 meters in just 45 minutes. The elements washed away houses and cars. The danger did not pass, since the rains continued.
