China Wants to Save Putin's Regime: Is Beijing Capable of Forcing Moscow to Make Peace? Angela Figin

Xi Jinping supports Vladimir Putin and is not interested in overthrowing his regime. However, China's actions and statements often contradict each other.

On the one hand, Beijing opposes the nuclear escalation with which the Russian dictator blackmails the world, and on the other, it promotes the “Friends of Peace” initiative, which is a plan for Ukraine's capitulation. Russian opposition politician Gennady Gudkov told Channel 24 whether China has the tools to contain Russia and why it warns against nuclear threats.

China is afraid of losing its main advantage

Despite the fact that Beijing continues to cooperate with Russia and helps it earn money for the war against Ukraine, at the UN General Assembly, China, Brazil, Turkey, Kazakhstan and eight other countries issued a joint statement warning against the threat of using nuclear weapons, as well as attacks on nuclear facilities.

China understands that the only factor that can offset its dominant position in terms of its large population is nuclear weapons. The PRC has also seriously increased its nuclear potential, but Xi Jinping is not interested in nuclear weapons being used as a means of war.

After all, this deprives the PRC of its main advantage – its enormous human resources, – noted Gudkov.

At the same time, China is not interested in a fair peace. This is confirmed by the Chinese-Brazilian initiative to create the Friends of Peace platform, which is based on Russia's concept.

I don't believe in this at all. China's plan is nothing. On the one hand, Beijing allegedly recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, but does not set any conditions for their preservation. This is pandering to a dictator, – said the Russian oppositionist.

By the way, Switzerland supported the so-called “peace initiative” of China and Brazil. Representatives of France were also present at the meeting.

Please note! Chairman of the Hungarian community of Kyiv and the Kyiv region Tibor Tompa said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is helping to promote the Friends of Peace initiative. Putin probably asked him about this during their last meeting.
