Recently, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Beijing plans to deepen ties with Moscow in 2023. They also call the war against Ukraine a “crisis”. But in fact, everything is not as bad as it might seem.
Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman told Channel 24 about this. According to him, China clearly stated that it was about economic cooperation with Russia. In this sense, they are interested in benefits both with Ukraine and with Moscow.
However, China has clearly refused to help Russia in the military sphere, even in a minimal way. There is no cooperation there.
China has unequivocally refused to cooperate with Russia in the military sphere in the least minimal way. They don't even stock the chips they actually have. And they would suit Russia for the production of high-precision weapons, – said Sheitelman.
If Russia had access to chips and other equipment, it could increase the production of missiles. China will not do this. They even legally banned the supply of certain types of chips that can be dual-use.
China will colonize Russia, but more or less legally
Sheitelman stressed that Ukraine expects to end the war at least within the next year. China is considering long-term projects in Russia that could take years, such as building a port or a railway.
China is considering how it will colonize Russia. First of all, Siberia and the Far East. This will take place in post-war Russia, weakened by sanctions, which will not be able to sell oil and gas. In that Russia, which the West will not give money for investment, – Sheitelman believes.
China claims these projects. He will not politically seize and annex Russia. They will simply invest in certain promising projects and will use them practically for free.
