China is a selfish superpower: what irritates it most about the USA Victoria Grabovskaya

China is trying to promote its own peace initiatives to end the war in Ukraine. However, his position is that negotiations are possible only with the participation of Russia. That is why China was not represented at the Peace Summit in Switzerland.

Beijing’s position in particular on this issue needs to be considered in the context of its relations with Russia. It is also important to understand what place in the world order he has determined for himself. The chief consultant of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Alina Gritsenko, told Channel 24 about this, noting that China does not consider the current world order to be fair.

China in cooperation with Russia tries to realize his own interests and achieve goals that are important to him, using Moscow as a resource base.

China is an egoistic superpower that pursues exclusively its own national interests. Russia is important to it in the context of security and ideology. Although Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin promote the rhetoric of a polycentric world order, which provides for several centers of influence, they have differences in their views on the new world order, she emphasized.

While Putin sees a polycentric world with Russia as one of the key centers of power, China today does not see it as a truly influential player on the world stage.

“Beijing imagines the world order as a conditional pyramid, at the top of which are China and the United States, and below are less influential, but also powerful countries, in particular, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Turkey. Therefore, it perceives Russia as a weaker, a secondary partner,” she noted Gritsenko.

Trying to create an alternative

Xi Jinping does not consider the current balance of power in the world to be fair from the point of view of Chinese interests.

China considers itself to be one of the most ancient civilizations in the world. That is why he is very irritated by the fact that such a relatively “young” country as the USA occupies powerful positions and has instruments of influence on other states.

“That is why Beijing organizes associations like BRICS in order to look for partners who are also dissatisfied with the existing world order. China is trying to create an alternative to this world order, but today it has not succeeded,” Alina Gritsenko emphasized.
