China has supplied lethal weapons to Russia for the first time for the war against Ukraine, – media Vladislav Kravtsov

China has supplied Russia with lethal weapons for the first time to wage war against Ukraine. The EU is already preparing to impose sanctions against Beijing.

This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The relevant intelligence data was provided to the EU states by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

What is known about Chinese arms deliveries to Russia

One of the EU's senior diplomats told the publication that the evidence was “compelling” and demonstrated “the provision of lethal support” to Russia by China.

Now we need to consider all possible measures (against China – Channel 24), the diplomat said.

These measures include new sanctions that lead to a ban on doing business with Chinese companies, freezing assets and banning entry for individual Chinese citizens.

At the same time, the publication's interlocutor emphasized that, nevertheless, It is worth discussing this arms supply to Russia directly with China. The sources also stressed that the debate on sanctions is still at an early stage.

Another senior EU diplomat referred to “very serious” reports by the Reuters news agency. In late September, the publication reported that a subsidiary of the Russian state arms company Almaz-Antey, called Kupol, had developed and tested a new long-range combat drone in China and wanted to set up mass production there for use in the war against Ukraine. This was done with the participation of Chinese experts.

By the way, one of the senior EU diplomats also told a 24 Channel correspondent that European intelligence services reported the existence of a factory in China that produces drones for Russia. However, the European Union does not yet have enough evidence of the Chinese government's involvement.
