China has supplied Russia with lethal weapons for the first time to wage war against Ukraine. The EU is already preparing to impose sanctions against Beijing.

One of the EU's senior diplomats told the publication that the evidence was “compelling” and demonstrated “the provision of lethal support” to Russia by China.

These measures include new sanctions that lead to a ban on doing business with Chinese companies, freezing assets and banning entry for individual Chinese citizens.

Another senior EU diplomat referred to “very serious” reports by the Reuters news agency. In late September, the publication reported that a subsidiary of the Russian state arms company Almaz-Antey, called Kupol, had developed and tested a new long-range combat drone in China and wanted to set up mass production there for use in the war against Ukraine. This was done with the participation of Chinese experts.
