The Chinese coastal provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi and Fujian were hit by bad weather. There has been torrential rain for several days and landslides have been recorded. The disaster has already claimed the lives of 9 people, another 17 are missing.

As of Monday, June 17, 13 people are also known who were trapped. The authorities used helicopters to evacuate and deliver aid to the population.

The flood caused millions in losses

< p>In the Chinese city of Xishui, 369.3 millimeters of precipitation was recorded per day. The Meteorological Bureau classified the storm as an “extreme event”.

It is also known that 378 houses were destroyed due to the rainfall in Wuping County in Fujian Province. There, over the past few days, the precipitation that fell on the province broke a historical record.

Due to heavy rains, the water level in five rivers in China rose by 1 to 3 meters.

State media reported that economic losses in the county amounted to $57.19 million. In total, almost 100,000 people were affected by the disaster.
