Now there are two fundamental questions on which the future of China depends. They are afraid of certain things the United States of America can do.
Ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin told Channel 24 about this. According to him, China always looks to its own perspective. Self-sufficiency and fixation on oneself are fundamental features of the local mentality.
What 2 things are feared in China
As Klimkin noted, Beijing is well aware that now there are 2 fundamental issues on which the future state and prospects of China depend. Everything depends on the actions of the United States of America.
The first is the US presence in Asia. In the case of Ukraine, the struggle for values and the ability of the United States to build a “collective West” that did not exist before the full-scale war worked.
The Chinese also fear that America will be able to build a “collective East.” It will be a different democracy than we have with you. But they are afraid of the union of Japan, South Korea and other countries, – said Klimkin.
Another thing that seriously irritates China is possible technological sanctions. Beijing is seriously annoyed by the desire of the United States to restrict China's access to technologies like quantum electronics. These are the things that will define the 21st century.
The post-Soviet space does not actually exist
Interestingly, after the full-scale invasion, the post-Soviet space actually ceased to exist. The countries there are drawn to China, and Russia itself is also becoming more dependent on Beijing. Previously, she was a “junior partner”, and now she is a “middle vassal”.
Part of the Russian elite understands this. And Putin understands this. He is trying to bet on someone like Trump or a similar candidate in the next American election. I think this is his only salvation from China. Otherwise, the Chinese will gradually eat him alive, Klimkin believes.
Will China hand over weapons to Russia?
- John Kirby, spokesman for the US National Security Council for Strategic Communications, said that China could resort to escalatory actions. Among them may even be the transfer of military assistance to Russia.
- However, in China they continue to emphasize that they did not provide weapons to either Ukrainians or Russians. It also compared Beijing's possible future military support for Russia's war in Ukraine to US arms sales to Taiwan.
- NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov doubts that China will supply weapons to Russia
