Children's ensemble from Lviv got into an accident in Hungary: 21 injured

A Ukrainian children's dance ensemble from Lviv got into a traffic accident in Hungary on July 6 while traveling to a festival in the city of Ohrid.

There were 77 people on the bus, of which 21 were injured, including four with serious injuries.

A Ukrainian-registered bus with 77 passengers skidded into a ditch on the highway between the towns of Kunszentmarton and Tiszaföldvár.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the time of the accident there were 77 people on the bus: two drivers, participants and escorts of the children's dance ensemble.

The bus was traveling from Lviv to the city of Ohrid for a dance festival.

According to preliminary information, the driver lost control and drove off the road into a ditch.

According to updated information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 21 people were injured in the accident.

— Four Ukrainian citizens received serious injuries (born in 1954, 1958, 2007, 2011), the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry told journalists.

Among the seriously injured were two adult companions and two children, aged 14 and 18.

The ministry added that four more children received moderate injuries and will be discharged under the responsibility of their accompanying persons.

The remaining victims received minor injuries and, together with the children, will be sent to the city of Kunszentmárton, where the main group is located.

According to the consular section of the Ukrainian embassy, the victims were taken to hospitals in the cities of Szolnok, Kecskemet and Szentes for medical assistance.

As noted by the embassy, temporary accommodation has been organised for the remaining passengers who were not injured in the Kunszentmárton Community Centre and food has been provided.

The Foreign Ministry also added that the carrier is taking measures to provide additional buses to continue the group’s journey to its destination.

It was previously reported that diplomats and consuls of the Ukrainian Embassy, together with the ambassador, are personally monitoring the situation directly at the scene of the incident.
