On Sunday, May 12, a powerful fire broke out in Warsaw. A huge shopping complex with 1,400 shops and retail outlets caught fire.
All people who were in the establishment and in the surrounding area were evacuated. Huge plumes of black smoke rise above Warsaw, which can potentially be hazardous to health.

At 06:30, the Warsaw Government Security Center warned citizens about a powerful fire that engulfed the entire shopping complex at 44 Marywilska Street. The fire occupied a significant area of the huge shopping center. At the same time, the building probably began to burn at night.
More than 80 percent of the hall is on fire. Rescue operations are carried out by 50 units, including a chemical-ecological rescue group. The headquarters of the State Fire Service, brigade doctor Mariusz Feltinowski, together with the operational group, went to the place, writes the Main Headquarters of the State Fire Service.

The network reports that part of the roof has collapsed. The firefighting continues, the work is difficult, and there were a lot of flammable materials at the site. Chemicals were also burning, and smoke with a potential health hazard was rising from the city.
Regarding the smoke that hangs over the city, it is obviously harmful. A specialized chemical rescue team is on site monitoring the atmosphere near the fire. The devices do not have exceeded concentrations. There is currently no need to evacuate residents from nearby buildings. Of course, this smoke is poisonous and harmful. We recommend closing the doors, don’t go outside,” urged junior brigadier Michal Konopka from the city headquarters of the State Fire Service.

At first it was claimed that this was a production facility where air defense systems were manufactured for Ukraine. However, this turned out not to be the case. The Diehl Metall plant was on fire, which, however, belongs to a leading German industrial group.
