< p _ngcontent-sc90="" class="news-annotation">The operation of the Yagodyn checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Poland was unblocked. Polish carriers have removed their trucks, but the main cause of traffic jams has not yet been eliminated.
This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Mustafa Nayem. Traffic at the checkpoint resumed around 19:00 Kyiv time.
The main cause of traffic jams still remains
Despite the fact that Polish carriers completely blocked the operation of the checkpoint for several days, the main cause of traffic jams is phytosanitary and veterinary control from the Polish side. Against the backdrop of a full-scale war, Ukraine is forced to export by land, because of this, the number of trucks that are sent in the direction of Poland has increased. The local border guards effectively coped with the work, however, crossing the border by trucks significantly complicated the phytosanitary and veterinary control. Therefore, 20 – 25 trucks passed the Yagodin checkpoint daily.
However, that's not all – in long lines, recently stretching for 45 kilometers, there were not only trucks with goods, but also empty ones. Therefore, in order to reduce traffic jams, from 08:00 on September 9, empty trucks can cross the border at the Ustilug-Zosin checkpoint. Another checkpoint is also planned to open in early October.
We are still working on a solution to improve the efficiency of the Polish phytosanitary and veterinary services, but the next few days the tension on this section of the border should fell. In addition, agreements have already been reached on the opening in early October of another border crossing point in Nizhankovichi, Lviv region, for the temporary exit of empty vehicles, including fuel trucks, Nayem said.
Ukraine also proposes to transfer the phytosanitary and veterinary control of Poland into round-the-clock operation and cancel control for certain groups of goods, which will reduce the load on the checkpoint.
Pay attention! Due to blocking the passage of trucks at the checkpoint “Yagodin” Ukraine daily lost millions of hryvnia, which could go to the state budget. Infrastructure Minister Oleksiy Kubrakov clarified that it is about 55-60 million hryvnias daily.
