The speaker of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Maryana Reva spoke about this on the air of the United News telethon.
“It is known that the grenade that exploded was a gift. And we already have testimony from the person who gave this gift. It was in the form of a box. Inside were a bottle of alcohol and six grenades. As the probable suspect himself says (his procedural status has not yet been determined), he gave these grenades to a colleague, noting that these grenades were really military, so that he would pay attention to it. But the deceased, obviously, did not take these words seriously, and that is why we have such a terrible tragedy,” she explained.
According to her, investigators worked all night at the scene of the tragedy and seized objects that looked like grenades for examination to establish what kind of ammunition they were, and then the route of their receipt, on what grounds they were transferred to other persons.

“But, based on the information that has been collected so far, we can say that this was precisely an accident, namely careless handling of ammunition,” Reva emphasized.
