When I wrote the lines “Listen – singing is heard in hostile captivity” from the poem “My generation” I thought about her and other prisoners from Azovstal. I wanted to believe that the captivity did not break them, that they hold on and sing,” Vyshebaba wrote.
The military man says that “Bird” charges everyone around with his fighting spirit, tireless energy and love for Ukraine.

Ekaterina was a paramedic at Azovstal. “Bird” became famous after she sang in the walls of “Azovstal”. A video was distributed on the network in which Ekaterina, with weapons in her hands, sings the songs “We were born of the great year” and “Our Father Bandera.”In May 2022, Ekaterina, like all the defenders of the Azovstal plant, complied with the order and left the factory. After that, she was taken prisoner. The propagandists published an interview with a paramedic in which she spoke Ukrainian. In Russia, the Ukrainian paramedic was called a sniper.
On September 21, as part of a large prisoner exchange, Ekaterina Polishchuk returned home. Now she is undergoing rehabilitation and is engaged in active social activities, reminding the world that many more of her brothers and sisters are still in captivity.
