Celine Dion returned to the stage, performing at the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris and it was spectacular.
The singer closed the ceremony immediately after the lighting of the Olympic flame with a performance at the Eiffel Tower. She performed the legendary French composition of Edith Piaf — L’Hymne à l’amour.

After the performance of Lady Gaga and a number of European singers, Dion's performance was eagerly awaited at the end of the ceremony. When the flame was lit, Dion, dressed in a sparkly, beaded dress, performed at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

According to CNN, immediately after the performance, Kelly Clarkson, who was commentating the Olympic ceremony on NBC, was first speechless, and then called Dion a vocal athlete.

This performance was Dion's first since it became known that she had been diagnosed with a rare genetic disease. After that, the singer announced that she was taking a break and planned to focus on her health. At the time, she said that her health condition did not allow her to sing “the way I'm used to”.
The singer last performed live with the song My Heart Will Go On in July 2019 in London, England.
