US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that a potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia could give Vladimir Putin time to rest, rearm, and attack in the future. In a conversation with Channel 24, international security expert Taras Zhovtenko noted that even the wording of Blinken's statement is interesting, as he speaks specifically about a ceasefire, not peace or an end to the war.

That is, to use the ceasefire in order to accumulate enough resources and be able to continue military operations not only against Ukraine, but to open a second front, possibly against the North Atlantic Alliance.

Given the geopolitical role of the United States in the modern world, without direct guarantees from Washington, no effective security guarantees for Ukraine are possible.

The international security expert noted that the topic of Ukraine's victory is generally outside the scope of the current and future US presidential administration. In general, the military aid and political support provided by the Biden administration did not guarantee victory over the Russian occupiers on the battlefield.

The main goal of the White House was to ensure that Ukraine held on and that Putin could not realize his strategic goal of destroying the Ukrainian state. The goal of Russia's military defeat on the battlefield was never set, Zhovtenko emphasized.

According to him, the position of future American President Donald Trump is unlikely to differ from the previous position of the White House. The only thing is that Trump will not think in terms of containing Russia and preventing Moscow from achieving a strategic victory in this war.

Donald Trump has a slightly different system of coordinates and, accordingly, he will proceed from the fact that the war must be stopped, but the conditions and circumstances of the cessation of hostilities are most likely unknown even to Donald Trump himself.
