The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has developed a bill that provides for a one-year deferment from mobilization for volunteers who have served under the Contract 18–24 program.
The Ministry of Defense reported this.
One-year deferment after service: what the new bill provides
As the department specified, the bill was approved at a government meeting on June 27. It should eliminate the legal uncertainty when, after being discharged from service, volunteers could be immediately called up for military registration for re-mobilization.

“The deferment will allow volunteers to rest after service and, if necessary, undergo medical and social rehabilitation,” the Ministry of Defense noted.
Let us recall that voluntary service under the 18-24 Contract started in Ukraine on February 11 this year. It provides an opportunity for Ukrainians aged 18–24 to sign a one-year contract with high financial support for service in the Defense Forces.
By the end of 2025, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to expand the functionality of Reserve+. The application will allow signing contracts with the Armed Forces.
The Deputy Minister of Defense explained that a smart contract is a document that a person can sign with a digital signature. The contract will be sent to the military unit's recruiting system.
