Men aged 18-60 years, who previously had a status of limited fitness, must now again undergo a military medical commission (MMC) within 9 months, that is, until February 4, 2025.

In particular, this applies to men of military age who received group II or III disability after February 24, 2022 — except for the military, is included in the new law on mobilization in Ukraine.

The medical commission, after checking the person’s health status, will have to make only two conclusions: fit or unfit for military service.

In accordance with Order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine No. 402 On approval of the Regulations on military medical examination in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, suitability will be divided into categories A, B, C, D, D:

where:

  • A — fit for military service;
  • B — fit for military service with minor restrictions;
  • V — limited fit for military service;
  • G — temporarily unusable;
  • D — complete unsuitability.

What do categories of suitability for military service mean: B, D, D

Let's look at what some categories of fitness for military service mean.

What does category B

mean?

Category B — temporarily unfit for military service and needs treatment. It is necessary to indicate the health care institution or institution and the approximate duration of treatment.

What does category B mean

Category B — limitedly fit for military service in wartime. This category means that the conscript receives an exemption from conscription and is enlisted in the reserves, but is not exempt from conscription for military training. Can, as a rule, be used to complete parts of the second stage.

What does category G

mean?

Category G — temporarily unusable. May be provided to a conscript due to health reasons.

For example, after surgical intervention, injuries, with exacerbation of chronic diseases, dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system, with insufficient physical development.

This category can also be provided to students studying at universities for a period of 6 to 12 months. After several delays, category G automatically changes to B.

What does category D

mean?

Category D — This is absolute unsuitability for military service. Issued if a man has been diagnosed with a disease from the list of diseases.

However, as Free Legal Aid lawyers noted, there are still no necessary criteria to determine the degree of suitability. They will appear after the by-laws (in particular, Order No. 402 of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine) are brought into compliance with the new law. Before this, the VVK does not have a legal basis to act according to the provisions of the new law No. 10313.
