Scientists from the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) suggested to make cars of banana leaves. The corresponding article was published in the scientific journal journal of Materials Research and Technology.
In their work, the researchers found that the leaf fibers of the banana combined with the carbon nanotubes and the epoxy resin form a material which suppresses vibration and noise. The resulting material has low cost and can be used in the automotive industry, concluded the scientists.
In addition, using banana leaf cars will be more environmentally friendly and durable. Of them, according to the experts, it is possible to make the inner cover of automobile engines, door panels, and also use them for sound insulation.
