Russians feel better than other peoples they have colonized. This also applies to the so-called Russian liberals.
This was told by the Yakut human rights activist Raisa Zubareva, writes Channel 24. She spoke in the European Parliament at the Fifth Forum of Free Peoples of Post-Russia.
“I am the founder of the Free Yakutia Foundation. At anti-war meetings, I have to explain to Russians why we, the inhabitants of the Republic of Sakha, consider ourselves a Russian colony. We have to explain what is wrong with their state. Together with other anti-war movements and foundations, we declared 2023 the year decolonization,” said the human rights activist.
Yakutia demands justice
According to Zubareva, the year of decolonization not associated with armed confrontations or violence. Activists want to prove that there was not a single voluntary entry of Yakutia into Russia.
We say our land and people have been taken over by violence. We demand restoration of justice. To be honest, we get tired of this constant conversation with the wall. Russians feel their superiority already in the womb. I emphasize that this does not apply to everyone, but to the majority,” Zubareva said.
Liberals also have imperialist views
The human rights activist noted that it is not only ordinary Russians who have to prove the forcible seizure of Yakutia, but also those who have liberal views. Russian historians do not recognize the Kremlin's colonial policy either.
“We must say how colonization affected the masses, individuals and the world around us. We must ask why we are silent and fear lives even among those who went abroad. We must research historical documents and prove the facts of colonization,” the activist added.
Chechnya is also under the yoke of Russia
Also, the Chechen politician Akhmed Zakaev spoke at the forum of free peoples. He believes that Ukraine's victory in the war against Russia will allow Chechnya to restore its statehood.
