Canada plans to deploy a military hospital in Europe to provide medical care to Ukrainians. Currently, the exact location of the future hospital is being determined.
Canada wanted to deploy a large field hospital
The Minister of International Development of Canada, Harjit Sajan, spoke about the deployment of the hospital. He said that Canada was ready to set up a large field hospital, but there was no need.
We are talking to the Red Cross about what is needed. We were ready to set up a large field hospital. It turned out that there is no need for the entire hospital, so its individual elements will be deployed,” the minister said.
Sajan noted that such projects need significant coordination between numerous partners. He emphasized that not only equipment is important, but also people.
“The issue is not only to have the necessary equipment, it is important to ensure that people are needed,” said Sajjan.
The Canadian minister said that the site of the future hospital is now being determined.
Sajan said that a team from Canada's Department for International Development is working in Eastern Europe. She is looking for ways to further humanitarian support.
A lot of work is being done, but the needs are huge, given the massive crimes that are being committed in Ukraine, the minister concluded.
