Can seats be taken away from all people's deputies from the Opposition Platform for Life: Zelensky answered the petition

The petition to remove the mandates of people's deputies of the banned OPPL party gained the necessary 25,000 votes in less than a month. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy answered it.

The President of Ukraine addressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk with a request to work out the proposals set out in the electronic petition and inform the author of the appeal about the results of consideration.

What Zelensky said

Note that the petition was published on January 9 and collected more than 37,000 votes. Its authors suggested that the President come up with a legislative initiative to deprive the mandates of people's deputies from the former Opposition Platform for Life party.

The head of state also stressed that there are no tools in the legislation of Ukraine that would allow deputies to be immediately and urgently deprived of their mandates.

Zelensky explained that any draft laws are prepared in advance by the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada upon submission of committees, temporary special commissions and temporary investigative commissions, taking into account the proposals of deputy factions (deputy groups) in accordance with the approved agenda of the session of the Verkhovna Rada and are submitted for consideration by the Conciliation Council.

In December, the president already responded to a similar petition. Then he instructed the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk to consider a proposal to deprive all people's deputies of the banned party “Opposition Platform – For Life”. /h2>
