Propagandists threaten that Europe will “freeze” this winter because it won't have enough Russian energy resources. It won't happen, but there might be some problems.
This Channel 24 was told by Ukrainian political scientist Andriy Vigirinsky. According to him, the conflict in energy relations between the EU and Russia has moved from an economic to a conceptual level. Everything looks like Europe has decided to abandon Russian energy resources, despite the fact that there is no gas embargo. It was only about oil.
Previously, almost no one talked about gas. It was planned to continue to buy it until at least 2027. But after Russia began to openly blackmail Europe with “malfunctions” in Nord Stream 1, the situation changed.
Europe will not freeze, but business may have certain problems
Europe is actively preparing for a really difficult winter in a certain sense. They have increased their purchases of liquefied natural gas from the United States and continue to receive it from Norway. In addition, there is information that China supplies liquefied gas to Europe from Russia.
However, a business whose production is related to gas or oil can indeed face certain problems. Vigirinskiy gives the example of ArcelorMittal, where many facilities had to reduce staff or even suspend work due to the energy crisis.
Residential consumers will also have to suffer a little. They will definitely have heating and water, but the conditions will be somewhat worse than in previous years.
However, with such blackmail, Russia will also create problems for itself. They are practically losing the market in Europe.
Russia should think about what it will do without the natural gas market, which was Europe. They provided at least 140 billion cubic meters of gas there. To whom will they supply it next? – Vigirinsky emphasized.
Let's add, according to Ukrainian political scientist Mykola Davidyuk, the West is ready for gas blackmail of Russia, so the Kremlin will not be able to break Europe. He is convinced that Russia will be made into a conditional Iran, which will be pressed from all sides.
