Bulgaria may transfer surplus or unnecessary ammunition to Ukraine for its army. The Bulgarian government has yet to make a corresponding decision.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense has made a “very serious analysis and calculation” of its weapons. This was announced by the country's acting defense minister Atanas Zapryanov.

Allied countries must compensate for the assistance

Bulgaria will be able to transfer its stockpiles of shells and other military equipment to Ukraine if these supplies are compensated by allied countries.

“We have made a very serious analysis and calculation It turned out that there is something redundant and unnecessary for the Bulgarian army – some of the ammunition of certain types – can be provided to Ukraine. This package will also be associated with an agreement with the allied country on compensation, similar to the previous package that we sent. and for which we have already received about 30 million euros, which we are using to modernize projects of the Bulgarian army,” said Zapryanov.

He noted that after the positive decision of the government, Bulgaria will coordinate with allies and Ukraine to ensure logistics.
