Bulgaria Extends Humanitarian Program for Refugees from Ukraine for Another Six Months

The interim government of Bulgaria, headed by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, has extended the humanitarian aid program for Ukrainians who were forced to flee the war.

The humanitarian aid scheme for Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria includes government payments for living expenses.

The program was first introduced in 2022, immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Since then, it has been extended several times by government decision, the current term was supposed to end on July 31, 2024.

However, now the aid will last until December 31, after which there will be a new decision by official Sofia.

According to a special portal that was created for refugees from Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, 2 million 454 thousand 748 Ukrainians.

Today, almost 182 thousand people have registered under the EU temporary protection scheme.
