Bulgaria is ready to transfer a batch of ammunition of various calibers to Ukraine from those stocks that are considered “surplus” in her arsenal.
This was stated by the country's Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov, the BNR agency reports.
Military assistance to Ukraine — ammunition from Bulgaria
— We did a very serious analysis and calculation of our weapons. It turned out that there was something superfluous and unnecessary for the Bulgarian army. From this property — part of certain types of ammunition — may be provided to Ukraine, — the Bulgarian official emphasized.
Zapryanov noted that these shells will be transferred to Kyiv in the new military aid package provided for in the compensation agreement with the EU.
Now watching
— For the last batch transferred to the Ukrainian troops, we have already received €30 million, and all these funds will be used to modernize our Armed Forces, — he concluded.
The head of the Bulgarian defense department explained that before making a decision on the transfer of ammunition to Ukraine, Sofia and Kyiv, it is necessary to agree on all the conditions for the logistics and delivery of these weapons.
