Russia failed in its attempt to use experimental sea drones against Ukrainian targets in the Odessa region. The Russian drones exploded in Russian territorial waters before reaching their intended targets.

This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, during an awards ceremony for participants in the Magura project, Ukrinform reports.

Russian drones failed to reach their targets

According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, in early June the occupiers tried to use new models of naval drones, but the operation ended in complete fiasco.

“In early June, they tried to use experimental models, but they didn't show any results. They exploded in their waters, and didn't even reach our territorial waters,” Budanov said.

The intelligence officer specified that Russian naval drones were heading to the city of Yuzhnoye in the Odessa region, where they planned to attack Ukrainian facilities.

However, technical problems thwarted the enemy's plans.

“According to our information, they were heading for the city of Yuzhnoye and looking for their targets there, but they failed,” Budanov said.

Let us recall that the GUR recently presented new Magura sea drones. According to the intelligence service, these drones turned the situation in the Black Sea in Ukraine's favor.
