The potential threat of an attack on the Baltic countries from Russia exists constantly. However, it is unlikely that the aggressor will begin an offensive before the end of the war in Ukraine.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, stated this on the air of the telemarathon, reports 24 Channel.

The threat of an attack on the Baltic countries

This is a constant, permanent threat – nothing more. While the war in Ukraine is going on, there can be no problem anywhere from Russia, Budanov said.

At the same time, according to Budanov, the Russians have a “maximum” plan and a “minimum” plan regarding the war in our country. Thus, the “maximum” plan is that the Kremlin wants to gain control over Ukraine by any means necessary by the end of 2024. The “minimum” plan is to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It has not changed for a long time.

In addition, Budanov also noted that with their offensive in the Kharkiv region at the beginning of May 2024, the Russians wanted to try to create a so-called buffer zone. But this attempt failed.
