– Among the wounded is the commander of the group, Colonel General Romanchuk, in very serious condition. Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Tsekov is unconscious, — Budanov emphasized.
He noted that the number of casualties among ordinary military personnel of the Russian Federation who are not employees of the headquarters is currently being established.
– These are military personnel who are serving, guarding and so on – they are not included in the list that I announced to you,” the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate clarified.
He did not confirm information that appeared online about the possible death of the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov, during the attack. Ukrainian intelligence does not yet have information about his condition.
Budanov did not specify what role the Crimean partisans and residents of the occupied peninsula played in planning the attack on the headquarters. He only said that the GUR collects information from all sources.
“It is clear that intelligence sources are one of the main ones,” said Budanov.
In addition, the head of the GUR did not answer, whether missiles provided by Western allies were used for the attack.
As is known, on September 22, several powerful explosions were heard in Sevastopol, and missiles hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The fact of the attack was confirmed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to OSINT analysts, the attack on the building could have been carried out by Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles.
As noted in the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the attack on the headquarters occurred at a time when the leadership of the Russian Black Sea Fleet gathered there for a meeting. The MTR reported dozens of dead and wounded occupiers, including senior management of the Russian fleet.
