Viktor Orban has accused the EU of trying to overthrow the Hungarian government and impose a “puppet” administration. North Korea's Foreign Ministry praises Hungary's Prime Minister.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry's statement said that Hungary's Prime Minister “explained his country's stance on defending the country's sovereignty in the face of ever-increasing pressure from the European Union,” Kanal 24 reports, citing the Hungarian publication Nepszava.

What the North Korean Foreign Ministry's statement recalled

During an event to mark the anniversary of the 1956 uprising against Hungary's occupation by the USSR, Viktor Orban said that “Brussels does not need to exist because it dictates its will to member states EU”.

He also accused the European Commission and the European People's Party of plotting to overthrow the Hungarian government and end its independent policies.

Hungary is not afraid of the threat of imperialism and will not tolerate being elevated to a puppet state and subordinated to Brussels, says Orban.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry's statement was released in Korean, English, Chinese, Russian and Spanish. It only indicated Viktor Orban's job title. However, neither the name of the Hungarian prime minister nor the event at which he made his accusations were mentioned.

On October 23, Orban gave an anti-European speech, during which he accused the EU of seeking to subjugate Hungary. In addition, he compared the European Union to a communist regime.
