British intelligence says Russia has run out of Iranian drones again

Russia has run out of Iranian drones. However, the enemy seeks to replenish them.

This is stated in the report of the British Department of Defense. Scouts note that drones are ineffective for hitting targets and are used to distract Ukrainian air defense. no kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles (OWA-UAV) have been received in Ukraine since around February 15, 2023.

Earlier, the Ukrainian armed forces reported that at least 24 Shahed-136 UAVs were shot down between January and early February and dozens were destroyed in the first few days of the year.

British intelligence officials say that this indicates that Russia has exhausted its reserves. However, they also assume that the enemy is likely to be looking for resupply options.

Although these weapons do not have good results in destroying their intended targets, Russia probably sees them as a useful trap that could divert the Ukrainian air defense system from more effective Russian cruise missiles, the British Defense Ministry building says.

New modifications of “Shaheeds”

  • In early February, the media reported that Iran was modifying its drones, which they are transferring to Russia, so that the warhead could cause maximum damage to infrastructure objects in Ukraine.
  • Colonel Yuriy Ignat, Speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that Iran produces about 10 lines of different types of drones.
  • The number of these drones is unknown. Iran may continue to provide its drones to Russia to attack Ukrainian cities, Ignat noted.
  • He explained that drones like Shahed-136 are set on a course and destroyed when they hit the object that directed it. The rest of the UAVs are attack types that can carry bombs that hit targets.
  • Ignat noted that these drones can be shot down. “This is an ordinary aerial target that can be shot down while approaching a place that it can hit,” the speaker explained.
