UK and US agree to sanctions against Rosatom CEO/Collage by Channel 24

Britain and the United States have decided to impose sanctions against Alexei Likhachev, the head of Rosatom. These measures are aimed at limiting supplies of Russian nuclear fuel.

This was announced on the air of a single telethon by the Ukrainian president’s authorized representative on sanctions policy Vladislav Vlasyuk, reports 24 Channel.

The United States will reduce supplies of Russian nuclear fuel

Some countries, in particular Great Britain and the United States, have sanctioned some of the key executives of Rosatom, namely the head of the board Likhachev, Vlasyuk said.

The authorized representative on sanctions policy noted that this one step is not enough, and Ukraine will continue to work in this direction.

In particular, this concerns the plane of Russian nuclear fuel supplies. According to Vlasyuk, the US Congress has already accepted for itself that the United States will gradually reduce its supplies.

Please note! In 2023, Russian media reported that Rosatom's revenue for 2022 exceeded 1.7 trillion rubles, and profits increased by a third compared to 2021. Bloomberg also previously noted that sales of Russian nuclear fuel and technology abroad in 2022 did not fall, but grew by more than 20%.

“We are also communicating with other countries on this topic. I think that there is a significant demand in the European Parliament to reduce the EU's energy dependence on Russian nuclear fuel, at least gradually,” he noted.

Vlasyuk noted that there is currently movement, but “everything is not happening as quickly as we would like.”
