Russian adviser to the UN in Geneva Boris Bondarev resigned in protest against Russia's war in Ukraine and criticized pro-Putin policies.
Russia has already disowned Russia's adviser to the UN, saying that he is now “no longer with Russia.” This was stated by Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, Bondarev, who resigned in protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, “opposed the consolidated opinion of Russian society.”
Here, perhaps, we can only say that Mr. Bondarev is no longer with us, rather, he is against us, – said the press secretary of the President of Russia.
Peskov explained that the UN representative condemns the actions of the Russian leadership at a time when the actions of the Kremlin are supported by almost the entire people of the aggressor country.
The diplomat condemned the actions of Russia
Boris Bondarev worked as a diplomat for about 20 years . After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the UN representative spoke out against the war and resigned.
Bondarev wrote in his resignation letter that he had never been so ashamed of his country.
The Russian diplomat also said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is an excellent example of how the Russian political system has degraded, and also condemned Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons.
According to Bondarev, the initiators of this war want only one thing – stay in power forever, live in pompous palaces, sail on luxurious yachts, enjoying unlimited power and impunity, and for this, the Putin regime is ready to sacrifice many lives.

After his letter of resignation, the United Nations called on all other Russian diplomats in the UN, as well as around the world, to follow the moral example of Bondarev and resign.
