Body of Ukrainian woman found in Israel after coming to treat daughter for leukemia

The body of Maria Pashkurova, a 30-year-old Ukrainian citizen who came to the country to treat her daughter for leukemia, was found in Israel.

Her death was confirmed four days after Iran launched a missile strike on a high-rise building in Bat Yam, Israeli officials said.

The Guardian reports this.

Pashkurova arrived in Israel in December 2022 on a medical visa – her 7-year-old daughter Anastasia needed urgent treatment for leukemia. The missile strike also killed Anastasia and her grandmother, who were with Maria in the destroyed house.

Maria's husband is fighting against Russia in Ukraine, reports the Israeli publication Ynet.

Israeli authorities had previously reported eight people killed in the Bat Yam strike and one missing. Pashkurova's death brings the death toll in Israel to 25 since the fighting with Iran began.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed on June 16 that five Ukrainian citizens were killed in the Iranian strike, including three children. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on citizens to leave Israel and Iran as soon as possible due to the escalating conflict.
