Strikes of Polish farmers on the border with Ukraine
November 6, 2023, Polish farmers began blockading checkpoints on the Ukrainian border. They demanded the return of the pass system for Ukrainian carriers.
January 17 in Poland agreed with protesters to unblock truck traffic at three checkpoints until March 1.
However, on February 9, protests by farmers resumed at the points Medika – Shegini, Khrebnoye – Rava-Russkaya and Dorogusk – Yagodin.
Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekierski called on farmers to end the blockade as soon as possible and understand that not all problems can be eliminated immediately. He also invited representatives of farmers to come to the ministry and discuss their demands in order to come up with concrete solutions.
After this, the movement of trucks through the Shegini-Medika border checkpoint was resumed. At the time of the event, there were over 220 trucks from Ukraine in line for registration.
