U.S. President Joseph Biden made a surprise visit to Kiev on February 20, where he met with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Despite the historical significance of this visit, this is not the end of Biden's trip to Europe.
Important news should also be expected from Joe Biden's speech in Poland, which will take place tomorrow, February 21. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (in 2014-2019) Pavel Klimkin stated this on the airChannel 24.
The purpose and results of Biden's visit
In Kyiv, the US president announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth nearly $500 million. Unfortunately, it did not contain new weapons packages, but mainly shells to those already received by Ukraine.
However, the Ukrainian diplomat believes that it is not worth comparing the numbers of aid packages. Like, this is not a game of arithmetic, but the main surprises are yet to come.
In my opinion, Biden's visit is symbolic, because it is also an ideally chosen time – on the eve of the anniversary of the invasion. Tomorrow Putin will speak with his message. That is, everything came together, – emphasizes Pavel Klimkin.
According to him, Joe Biden's visit was aimed at showing his leadership as the President of the United States. It also means that the United States remains our key ally and partner.
“The talks, of course, talked about a further strategy. I think they also talked about new types of weapons, but also about what is critical for us what you need is ammunition, artillery and many other things,” explains the ex-head of the Foreign Ministry.
In his opinion, the arrival of the US president also means that there will be no restrictions on the supply of new types of weapons or the expansion of “old” ones.

The interlocutor also recalled that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken officially called Russia's actions “crimes against humanity.” That is, the Russian authorities recognized them as criminals.
Now Biden is coming to Kyiv. Biden will be making a speech tomorrow. I think this speech will be historic. Just as Ronald Reagan once said: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall,” Pavel Klimkin said.
So history is changing right now. And then we should wait for the next military aid packages, because this is a whole strategy, not individual steps.
