Kirby spoke about the threat from the US

In a recent statement, Kirby noted that the threat to US national security is associated with Russia's potential testing of nuclear weapons in space.

< p class="bloquote cke-markup">We're not talking about weapons that could be used to attack people or cause physical destruction here on earth,” Kirby said.

< p>This prompted President Biden to call for diplomatic engagement with Russia and other allies.

“We take this potential threat very seriously. US intelligence “has serious concerns about the widespread declassification of this intelligence,” he said.

The deployment of new Russian anti-satellite weapons is seen as such that it could have a ground-based impact.

Additionally, Kirby expressed surprise at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner's decision to publicly release the intelligence.

  • Head of the Intelligence Committee House of Representatives Mike Turner reported information about a “serious threat to national security” associated with Russia.
  • National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan subsequently confirmed this information and noted that President Biden, through the decisions he makes, will ensure the security of the American people in the future.
  • The White House administration has taken more creative and strategic approaches to declassifying intelligence information in national interests of the United States than any other administration in history.
  • The American publication ABC News also noted that Russia wants to use nuclear weapons in space against satellites. The United States is now working on a solution to this problem.
  • Rep. Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat and ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, called the warning “significant.” However, he stated that it “is not a reason for panic.”
