Biden and Xi Jinping may meet: when and where exactly Margarita Voloshina

Current US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will visit Peru and Brazil next week as part of the APEC and G20 summits in these countries.

Against this backdrop, the leaders may hold a bilateral meeting. This was reported by 24 Channel with reference to a statement from the press service of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Biden may meet with Xi Jinping next week

Hua Chunying reported that Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Peru from November 13 to 17, where he will take part in the 31st meeting of the leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Immediately after that, he will head to Brazil to attend the 19th G20 summit on November 18-19.

A spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that during such trips, the Chinese leader will meet and hold talks with the presidents of Peru and Brazil – Dina Boluarte and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, respectively.

At the same time, as announced by the White House, American leader Joe Biden is also scheduled to travel to Peru and Brazil to participate in the APEC and G20 summits. He, like Xi, will also meet with Boluarte and Lula da Silva and hold talks with them.

Washington and Beijing have previously used Biden and Xi's joint participation in multilateral summits to meet on the sidelines of these forums. Although the parties have not yet announced bilateral talks, their likelihood remains high.

Note that the last time the leaders met was on November 15, 2023, also on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. This was their first meeting in 6 years. Then, the main part of the meeting was held behind closed doors.
