The President of Ukraine also recalled that he asked for preventive steps. After all, our state has actually been resisting Russian aggression for 8 years. Therefore, joining NATO could avoid a full-scale war.
He called the entry of Finland and Sweden into the Alliance the right decision, supported by Ukraine. Indeed, in our state they are well aware that Russia will not stop there. And all because she has no understanding of sovereignty.

The whole world is helping Ukraine, but it could have simply joined NATO
Vladimir Zelensky expressed gratitude to everyone who extended a helping hand to our country. Who provides humanitarian aid, who provides funds, and who provides weapons. At the same time, all this would not have been required if Ukraine had become a member of NATO at one time.
Solutions are always simpler and smarter than people imagine. Like, if Ukraine is in NATO, then Russia will attack. We are not in the Alliance – Russia attacked, – Zelensky stated.
He added that he was not offended by the North Atlantic Alliance. After all, the president understands perfectly well that not to take our state is a common decision of all its members. At the same time, Zelensky understands that it would be possible to take a shorter path – Ukraine's accession to NATO – instead of a long one, when the whole world has to try to stop the war using different methods.
