Fighters scrambled in Belarus due to Russian “Shahed” aircraft flying in/Collage by Channel 24

During the attack on Ukraine on the night of July 31, several Russian “Shaheds” flew into the territory of Belarus. Because of this, the Belarusians had to raise their fighters into the sky.

Until now, the state bodies of Belarus have not commented on the arrival of Russian “Shaheds” in the country. This is not the first such incident that has happened with Russian kamikaze drones.

Fighters were raised in Belarus because of the “Shahed”

The “Belarusian Gayun” telegram channel noted that on July 30 at about 23:50, a fighter of the Belarusian Air Force was raised into the air at the “Baranovichi” airfield. The flight is likely related to the interception of the Russian Shahed-136/131 drone.

Subsequently, the channel noted that, according to monitor data, one of the “Shaheds” was moving over the territory of the Polesie Radiation and Ecological Reserve in the direction of Chernobyl. The Telegram channel Monitor also writes about the entry of another Russian kamikaze drone into Belarus.

As of 00:32, “Belorussky Gayun” reported that 6 “Shaheds” are currently flying in the border area with Belarus. They are located in the north of the Chernihiv region of Ukraine, and monitors suggest that Russian drones may also enter Belarus.

At the same time, the exact number of “Shaheds” that are already flying in Belarus is unknown.

Belorussky Gayun recalled that since July 15, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of the Belarusian Air Force have been on duty at the Bobruisk airfield almost every day. The reason is the desire to reduce the time of flight to the border with Ukraine to intercept Russian “Shaheds” that fly into Belarus.

The choice of the Bobruisk airfield, according to the Belarusians, is not accidental, since it is closest to the border. Since July 26, the Belarusian monitoring community has not recorded any approaches by the Belarusian Air Force helicopters to the Bobruisk airfield.

By the way, on July 16, Belarus also raised aircraft to intercept the Russian drone “Shahed”, which flew to Mogilev. This was the 4th kamikaze drone that flew from Russia to Belarus during the attack on Ukraine.
