On July 3, the Belarusian army presented new kamikaze drones at a military parade. These drones are very reminiscent of the notorious Iranian Shaheds, which are also produced by Russia.

Journalists from Army Recognition suggested that Minsk could also to establish the production of drones of the “Shahed” type. True, to what extent this is happening is still unknown exactly.

The publication noted that on July 3, 2024, at the Independence Parade in Minsk, the Belarusian army for the first time showed the Iranian kamikaze drone “Shahed-136” from its arsenal. These drones, called “Geran-2” in Russian nomenclature, were presented in Belarus as a “new domestic development”, now called “Kochevnik”.

As journalists noted, during the parade at least four drones were transported on SUVs, which may indicate Belarus' ability to ensure mobility and readiness to deploy the Nomads on combat readiness.

Previously, Belarus tried to purchase ready-made drones from Iran and acquire technology for the domestic production of UAVs. The mention in the Belarusian media of these drones as “Geran-2” and “new domestic development” indicates possible localized production in cooperation with Iranian or Russian specialists, noted Army Recognition.

It is also unknown whether the Russians brought these new drones, or Belarus has already adopted them.

More than 300 pieces of military equipment were shown at the event, including the first appearance of Russian-made Iskander-M systems.
