Pay attention to the support of Tokayev and Lukashenko for the Chinese “peace plan”. Tokayev did this literally the next day after the publication, Lukashenka waited until his trip to Beijing.
The Kremlin lost its dominant influence
Of course, they are old tricksters and know what they are doing: they are playing the game of balancing Russia. But the real significance of these statements is much greater.
Kazakhstan and Belarus are not just anyone for the Kremlin, but members of the EurAsEC and the CSTO. That is, on paper, the closest allies: economically and safely. Direct and unconditional support for the Chinese plan is the end of Russia's zone of dominant geopolitical influence.
Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the collapse of the USSR to be the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century. He has invested insane efforts and resources in building structures that should restore Russia's geopolitical influence in the former USSR. Now China is the main player in the Eurasian space.
China stole allies from Russia
To paraphrase Winston Churchill, the Maidan was the end of the beginning of the collapse of the post-Soviet space, and the Russian-Ukrainian war was the beginning of the end. Putin wanted to return the USSR in a new version and thus go down in history. However, he ends up with his seemingly closest allies publicly supporting the Chinese plan and buying China's favor.
In the eyes of the whole world, this is an obvious humiliation. Putin has already lost to China.
