A peace summit to resolve the situation in Ukraine due to the war started by Russia is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on June 15-16. China has refused to take part, but is trying to promote its own “peace plan” among world leaders.

President of a think tank “Politics” Oleg Lesnoy told Channel 24 that Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin communicate with the world only with ultimatums. If there are any disagreements, then China goes ahead without trying to reach a compromise.

“So you can play out the game and remain out of history. Putin is exactly like that, but China, as for me, a very overrated peacemaker. They say that they seem to be for peace, but in reality they are selling dual-use goods to Russia,” he said.

“Peace Plan” from China

Oleg Lesnoy noted that recently there was a meeting between the foreign ministers of the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization), where they considered the issue of the “peace plan” that China proposes.

The ministers did not support him, because they understand that they need to be friends with the West. China’s “peace plan” has “flew,” he noted.

The president of the think tank believes that there is no point in announcing only the points of the “peace plan,” because this is not enough. Efforts must also be made to ensure that there are real results.

In addition, Beijing is only looking out for its own benefit, because in the “peace plan” that it proposes the main emphasis is on needs China.

Now there is a war, so there must be practical steps that will influence changes in international organizations, security agreements or the establishment of peace. And the behavior of Russia and China should show the world that the leaders of these countries do not want a just world – but the capitulation of Ukraine,” he emphasized.

Putin is disappointed

Lesnoy emphasized that Vladimir Putin now has no place at the negotiating table at the Peace Summit. The Kremlin dictator's latest public statements indicate his arrogance and disrespect for any agreements.

I got the impression that Putin feels weak against that Ukraine has had a lot of successes in the international arena this month. All major world events are either about Ukraine, or for Ukraine, or for Ukraine. But Putin wasn’t invited anywhere,” he said.

Sanctions against China

Economic cooperation between Russia and China is becoming increasingly closer. Ukraine’s Western partners have repeatedly warned Beijing about the consequences of such actions.

After secondary sanctions were introduced (Western countries against China – 24 Channel), the Chinese Foreign Ministry ducked like a wolf. And this is just the beginning, because they were warned not to supply dual-use goods to Russia,” noted the president of the think tank.

If the West continues to impose sanctions against China because cooperation with Russia, there will likely be positive changes, because Xi Jinping and Putin understand only force.
