The Foreign Ministers of Italy and Switzerland recalled the results of the first Peace Summit, where calls were made to guarantee nuclear and food security, as well as immediately begin the release of all prisoners of war and the return of deported Ukrainian minors and civilians.

We are convinced that peace requires the involvement of all stakeholders and dialogue with them, the ministers agreed to maintain close contact with a view to cooperating in creating the best conditions for holding a second peace summit with the participation of all parties, including Russia, and all interested global players, they assured.

The heads of the Italian and Swiss Foreign Ministries also called for the creation of “a joint negotiating platform based on respect for international law and the principles of territorial integrity and independence of states enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.”

Shortly before this, Andrei Ermak, head of the Office of the President, explained the significance of Russia's possible participation in the second Peace Summit. He noted that the situation does not yet lead to direct negotiations. According to him, the invitation to Russia is intended only to convey a general plan of action, and is not a signal to begin negotiations.
