The political scientist told how Le Pen threatens Ukraine if he wins the elections/Facebook Marine Le Pen
In the second round of the presidential elections in France, Marine Le Pen will compete for the seat with Emmanuel Macron. However, if she wins, her position towards Russia may cause irreparable damage to Ukraine.
Political scientist Maxim Sokolov announced this on air on Channel 24. He noted that now the politician's statements have become much softer than they were before.
Le Pen's position
According to the political scientist, 10 more years ago, Le Pen was more aggressive in her rhetoric. In particular, she called for the withdrawal of France from the European Union and NATO.
Now this is not. She became smarter and more moderate in her statements. Le Pen no longer says that they (the French – Channel 24) will leave NATO, but declares that they will develop their defense forces, their own defense, – Sokolov noted.
In addition, she also talks about holding own diplomacy, which will not depend on Washington and Brussels. At the same time, he announces the reform of the EU, which should become a union of sovereign European nations, and not remain a superstate structure.
Le Pen and Ukraine
< p>As Sokolov noted, officially Le Pen constantly emphasizes that he condemns Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, she says that sanctions pressure on Russia harms primarily France and the European Union. and declares that he will not support them if elected. She also absolutely does not agree to provide Ukraine with weapons,” the political scientist noted.
As Sokolov explained, if Le Pen is elected, her position in relation to Ukraine is dangerous because it can break up the united European sanctions front against Russia. Then it will become very difficult to introduce new sanctions against the Kremlin and maintain existing ones.
In addition, Euro-Atlantic relations will suffer. That is, the influence of Washington and NATO on France will significantly decrease.
“She can say one thing, but her actions will testify to another. There will be such an” Orban's approach “- he allows some sanctions, but globally opposes the European front,” summed up Sokolov.
