A 13-year-old boy who fell under shelling was rescued in Lviv
The First Medical Association of Lviv said that The tragedy happened at the end of June. 13-year-old Stas was at home when the ceiling collapsed on him.
From under the rubble of the house, the child was pulled out by the father with the help of rescuers. The head was damaged the most. There was an 8 cm hole in the boy's skull. Nine days, commas, and several weeks in the intensive care unit of Kharkov. Then – Lviv, – the doctors noted.
The guy was taken to the National Rehabilitation Center “Indestructible” in a critical condition. After he was stabilized, pediatric neurosurgeons led by the head of the department, Mikhail Lovga, performed a complex operation to close a large skull defect. To do this, together with American colleagues, within the framework of the GLOBAL SURGICAL AND MEDICAL SUPPORT GROUP program, we made a special plate that ideally matches the bone structures and the size of the formed formation.

The guy is trying to remove the scars
At the same time, Stas was treated by burn surgeons from the First Medical Association of Lviv – Lesya Strelka and Galina Sayan. Their task was to remove the massive scars on the guy's face – the nose, the bridge of the nose and the upper lip.
If you delay, the scars could completely form and the muscles on the face would lose some of their functionality. That is, Stas could not move them, especially his upper lip. Consequently, on a monthly basis, the doctors injected the boy with hormonal injections into the wounds, the doctors said.
According to the doctors, this is one of the methods used for effective conservative treatment of scars. The teenager has already had three such injections.
The SMART Medical Aid charity organization helped surgeons with medicines and supplies. Injections slow down growth and soften scars, while maintaining the functionality of the muscles and the aesthetic appearance of the face.
Stas has already received the last injection. He has a year break ahead of him. The burn surgeons will be watching the guy at this time. If there is a positive trend, in a year he will undergo another course of injections, if not, the doctors will resort to plastic surgery. It is very important for the Stas family that their son is being treated at home – in Ukraine.
