China seized a fishing vessel off the coast of Taiwan. The boat has already been delivered to the Chinese port.

As the media write, the incident increased tensions between states. China seized the ship on the evening of July 2 near the Taiwan-administered Kinmen Islands, which is near the Chinese cities of Xiamen and Quanzhou.

China seized Taiwanese ship

The Chinese Maritime Administration reported that it seized a Taiwanese ship on July 2. As explained in China, the Taiwanese vessel operated during the Chinese fishing ban period and carried out illegal trawling operations. Thus, the ship's nets were much smaller than the minimum size established by China, which caused damage to marine fisheries resources and the environment.

A Taiwanese ship was seized in the south of Fujian Province. Taiwan has now said it will do everything possible to free the fishermen and return the vessel as quickly as possible.

At the same time, Chinese officials say the Taiwanese vessels were trying to ” interfere” with the normal functioning of Chinese law enforcement agencies. They also added that Chinese officials had also previously warned Taiwan about violating the law.

It is known that there were at least 3 Indonesian migrant workers on board the vessel from Taiwan. Now China and Taiwan are trying to resolve the issue of the return of the vessel and fishermen.

The media note that this is not the first time China has detained Taiwanese ships, which has caused retaliatory actions. Thus, since the beginning of the year, Taiwan has also already detained at least 5 Chinese ships due to border violations.
