How are the award winners determined?

Decisions about awarding different awards are made in different ways. The best are determined with the participation of journalists and former football players.

  • Ballon d'Or (men): a panel of journalists from the top 100 of the FIFA rankings vote on the nominees. Each country has one journalist representative who votes in the international vote.
  • Ballon d'Or (women): The award is decided by an international group of journalists. However, this jury consists of 50 journalists – one journalist from each of the 50 countries in the world according to the ranking.
  • Kop Trophy: The winner is determined by a jury consisting of Ballon d'Or winners.
  • Yashin Trophy : the winner is determined in the same way as the winner of the men's Golden Ball.
