A cousin of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has been detained in Athens. She is suspected of drug trafficking.

DJ Izzat Khanim Javadova, who is a cousin of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to AFP.

Izzat Khanim Javadova was detained in the suburbs of Athens during a party due to suspicions of drug distribution.

According to the Greek police, the raid was carried out in a luxury villa in the city of Kalyvia near Athens. During the operation, 13 people were detained. In the bedroom of the party organizer, 45 bags of cocaine, ecstasy and crystal meth were found, as well as a safe with more than 43 thousand euros in cash.

Izzat Khanim, known in the DJ world under the pseudonym Mikaela Jav, is the daughter of Aliyev's late uncle, Jalal, and has British citizenship. She often posts moments from her performances on social media, particularly in Ibiza.

Javadova, along with nine other detainees, will appear in court on January 2 on charges of drug trafficking and use. The three police officers who guarded the villa have not yet been charged – the investigation is ongoing.
