Awaiting stable sub-zero temperatures: Galushchenko on possible Russian strikes on the energy sector

by alex

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko believes that Russian invaders will wait for stable sub-zero temperatures before they try to repeat last year's terror of the Ukrainian energy system.

He said this on the air of the United News telethon on Tuesday, November 14.

— For them (Russians, — Ed. ) it is important that the sub-zero temperature be stable. That is, if, conditionally, the temperature drops to minus and then rises to plus, they will still wait for stable (sub-zero temperatures – Ed. ),” the minister said.

Galushchenko explained that at sub-zero temperatures it is more difficult to restore the power grid.

He also noted that the Russians have not stopped attacking the energy sector all this time, but these attacks are not massive.

“But all the same, we can say that these attacks occur non-stop and against generation facilities and energy complex facilities,” the minister noted.

CNN believes that it will be more difficult for the Russian Federation to harm the Ukrainian energy system this winter, since Kyiv has a more powerful air defense system than last year, and power engineers were preparing for a possible new wave of terror.

It was also noted that “the summer gave Ukraine’s energy grid a break” as the Russian Federation concentrated attacks on military targets and ports on the Black Sea and the Danube River. But with the onset of cold weather, the occupiers may again try to break Ukrainian stability with the help of energy terror.
