What is the situation at Azovstal
On April 26, Russia “allowed” the UN to evacuate at least civilians from Azovstal. The rescue operation lasted several days. In total, more than 600 civilians were taken out. Despite the declared silence in Mariupol, the occupiers resumed shelling and assault on Azovstal.
After that, the occupiers launched an assault on Azovstal. They broke into the territory of the plant, where there are heavy bloody battles. The head of the Donetsk Police Department, Pavel Kirilenko, noted that there could still be about 100 civilians under the rubble of Azovstal.
In addition, there are more than 500 wounded soldiers who must be urgently removed, since they cannot receive treatment and die in terrible agony. The Ukrainian military also needs to be evacuated, as their supplies have been exhausted after more than 2 months of fighting.
The relatives of the defenders have created a petition to the UN with a request to carry out the extraction procedure. Ukrainians are urged to sign it, because time goes by the clock. The petition should collect a million signatures, already 992 thousand.
