As the investigation established, the occupiers recruited the woman through a dating site.
After recruitment, the agent received the coordinates of the caches, from which she took ready-made explosives and a key to a hotel room, previously booked for a front man.
At the same time, the terrorist, following instructions from a Russian intelligence officer, purchased improvised means at hardware markets to make another homemade explosive device for new terrorist attacks.
The woman left a homemade explosive device in one of the rooms of the hotel complex.
To record the explosion on video, the woman installed a mini-camera in the room with remote access for the occupiers.
The Russians planned to remotely activate the explosives using a call to a phone that was loaded into a homemade device.
SBU counterintelligence officers caught the Russian agent red-handed as she was leaving the hotel in a hurry after planting explosives.
The Security Service defused the improvised explosive device.
During searches of the detainee's home, a telephone with evidence of her work for the enemy and components for a second explosive were seized.
SBU investigators informed the defendant of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a completed attempt at a terrorist act committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons.
The offender is in custody.
She faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property for attempting to commit a terrorist act commissioned by Russian special services.
